Meet Mona, the creator of TUBBYTOONS, a crew of  cuddly fellow-travelers who circle the globe in search of anything, everything, overthings, underthings, who knows what and what knows who!  TUBBYTOONS is

the end result of Mona’s desire to bring together her love of travel, animals, design, color and style to a far-flung fivesome so adorable, you’ll want to pinch their passport photos!

Mona was inspired to create TUBBYTOONS during a drive across the United States with her bulldog, “Tugboat”.  Bulldogs, as everyone knows, slobber when they drink, snore loudly and never have to stop to ask for directions, being the great map readers that they are.   This memorable excursion ultimately led to pawprints all over her road atlas, and an idea she just couldn’t get out of her head.

Mona herself was not born on a road trip, but in Massachusetts, and as a young girl studied piano, and also drew and drew and drew, which was something she did not have to study.  As she grew, so did her doll and stuffed animal collection, a hobby that continues to this day.  Summer vacations with her family were spent in Europe, and when she had grown sufficiently, California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, California, beckoned, where a major in character animation was pursued.
From there, it was onto a wide and varied career, including extensive design and illustration experience in character licensing for Warner Brothers, in animation, on feature films for the Walt Disney Studios, and as an “Imagineer” for Disney, designing rides and attractions for their theme parks in California, Florida and Tokyo.  Her work on the Tokyo Park reinforced her love for the simplicity and elegance in Japanese art and design.  TUBBYTOONS is her approach at combining that minimalism and appeal with a fun and engaging use of color.

Mona currently resides in Virginia with her husband, Brett, her son, Henry and her current bulldog, Bubbles.  She runs every day in the beautiful countryside, still enjoys classical music and of course never goes anywhere in the car without Bubbles.  Someone  has to read the map.
